2024 CDI Symposium: A Scientific and Technological Update on Evidence-Based Imaging, Part 1
By: American Chiropractic Association

Course Description

A critical review of the state of the art for evidence-based diagnostic imaging selection, acquisition, protection, and interpretation. This course will provide updates on various diagnostic modalities commonly available for clinical use in musculoskeletal and body imaging; their appropriate application in the diagnostic work-up; and the science behind their unique performance characteristics. Modalities will include digital imaging, plain film radiography, nuclear medicine, CT, and MRI. The practitioner will understand modern imaging techniques that are rapidly replacing older technologies or improving tried and true imaging modalities.

Learning Objectives:

1. Apply evidence-based clinical imaging decision making skills in the management of patients.

2. Select appropriate diagnostic imaging teaching files for study and to keep interpretation skills honed.

3. Select appropriate radiation exposure reduction protocols when imaging patients.

4. Communicate evidence-based care decisions with science novices.

5. Understand the advantages and disadvantages of the various imaging modalities that might be employed in the diagnostic workup of patients.

6. Apply the interpretation of diagnostic imaging studies in clinical decision making.
