Trigger Point Cupping
By: Institute for Continuing Education

Course Description

This course is intended for students who have already taken a foundational Cupping course or who have performed cupping and understand the basic mechanics, benefits and contraindications of the modality. In this more advanced course, the objective is to show how cupping can be an effective method for releasing trigger points in the body which increases range of motion. Trigger points are found in muscles that are overworked or have experienced trauma. This can be a very useful treatment for athletes.

Students will review what a trigger point is and how traditional techniques are typically performed. Then they will learn the advantages that cupping offers as a modality for releasing trigger points. Students will practice these techniques on both upper and lower body trigger points. Aftercare will also be discussed.

This course uses GRPS and Energy Ionic cups that are best designed for this use. They work well on joints, trigger points, hands and feet, and can be used for stationary or dynamic cupping.
