This course will identify the different types and severities of cognitive dysfunctions and which nutritional strategies may help to avoid or reverse them. Topcis include:

  • What are the different types of cognitive decline. including the difference between dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease and the pharmaceutical approach to treatment.
  • Theories of Cognitive Decline: Amyloid Protein Theory, Tau Hypothesis, and Cholinergic Hypothesis and genetic link.
  • Research based nutritional treatments for Cognitive Decline including:
    • Antioxidants such as melatonin, vitamin C, Vitamin and Vitamin D and B vitamins.
    • Choline and Phosphatidylserine and their ability to make acetylcholine and improve brain functioning.
    • Improving in mitochondrial function with Acetyl-l-Carnitine.
    • Using Essential Fatty Acids to decrease inflammation
  • Lifestyle changes to decrease risk of Alzheimer’s and Cognitive Decline.
