By: Institute for Continuing Education

Course Description

Course Objectives:

You will learn about the principles and clinical aspects of flexibility, the factors limiting flexibility, as well as techniques to enhance flexibility throughout the body.
You will learn the most effective stretches to eliminate pain, alleviate muscle soreness, improve balance, and prevent common injuries.

Description:

Flexibility is an important adjunct to regain or maintain optimal health. Prevention of postural problems and injuries to joints should be a priority. Stretching your clients/patients has many benefits. In addition to adjustments, you will be able to help your clients/patients regain postural control of specific muscles that might be creating chronic musculoskeletal disorders, spasms or strains. Healthier muscles result in increased range of motion, improved circulation, greater postural control and optimal performance.

This course will cover different stretching techniques such as Active Isolated Stretching, stretching with a stretch strap, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitative (PNF), breathing techniques, traction techniques, as well as static and dynamic stretching. It will also include self-stretching techniques for the practitioner.
