Prevention of Musculoskeletal Injuries through Proper Exercise Intervention

Course Description

This LIVE IN-PERSON course will begin with a basic overview of the musculoskeletal system along with common ailments of the system and then concentrate on the preventative measures of exercises that can aid in the prevention and treatment of such ailments. The course will be taught in a facilitator type style (versus lecture), where the instructor will work interactively with the attendees to cover the material. Special attention will be given to parts or ailments of the musculoskeletal system that are of most interest to attendees.

Upon completion of this class, participants should be able to:
Identify any part of the musculoskeletal system
Understand common ailments to the musculoskeletal system
Understand how aerobic, anaerobic and stretching exercise programs can be used to prevent or treat such ailments
Perform exercises for these purposes
Develop an age and gender specific exercise plan for patient/client

Method of Instruction: Facilitator-led Discussion, Some Hands-On Activities

Supplies: Please bring a floor mat and/or towel to use for any floor activities.
