With over 1 million total hip and total knee replacements done each year in this country, these surgeries have become common place and routine in our society. Studies show more people each year are receiving adjustments or massages for a variety of reasons. It only makes sense that chiropractors have a better understanding of how two of the most common orthopedic surgeries are performed and how we can best help our patients. It is important to understand orthopedic pathologies and their post-surgical precautions. This course describes these pathologies, the surgeries, and the post-surgical precautions surgeons may place on them, so the chiropractor can work safely on his or her patients without doing harm to them or the surgeries. Students will learn how to communicate with doctors and physical therapists “in their own language.”
