The NeuroCentric Approach (NCA)® prioritizes the health and mechanical sensitivity of the neurological tissues in the physical medicine environment. Whereas traditional training in physical medicine prioritizes assessment and treatment for involvement of mesodermal structures, NCA® focuses on ectodermal derivatives. This innovative shift in perspective allows the clinician to consider how threatened neurology (brain, spinal cord, nerve root, peripheral nerve, cutaneous neurology) may be driving motor behavior thus contributing to complicated chronic pain, recurrent injuries and various “syndromes” of recognizable symptoms with heretofore unknown causes. NCA® integrates the current evidence on pain science, traumatic brain injury, radiculopathy, myofascial trigger points and epigenetic variables.
