This course presents the material that is required to develop the knowledge and
expertise of musculoskeletal sonography of the lower extremity joints and soft
tissue. This comprehensive course presents didactic information including
musculoskeletal anatomy with easily understood segues into sonoanatomy. The
course videos include multi-camera angle demonstrations of all scanning protocols
with narration of each individual image.
Fundamental mechanics of musculoskeletal sonography, which include standardized
patient position, probe position, and standardized landmarks are covered in detail.
There is a strong emphasis on understanding normal musculoskeletal sonoanatomy.
A broad understanding of normal sonoanatomy and standardized musculoskeletal
scanning protocols yields a skill set which:
1. Provides efficient and accurate musculoskeletal ultrasound examinations
2. Utilizing standardized landmarks allows reproducible and reliable images
3. Enables detection of pathology
