Course Description

This program will teach you advanced diagnostic and therapeutic applications specific to the basal ganglia. Dr. Traster will discuss the structural and functional anatomy of all the afferent, efferent, and intra-basal ganglia connections. By understanding Basal Ganglia neurophysiology and pathophysiology, learners will enhance their ability to both diagnose and rehabilitate patients with basal ganglia disorders. The role of the basal ganglia on posture, locomotion, movement, and cognition will be reviewed in order to appreciate the wide variety of presentations a clinician may see in patients with basal ganglia lesions. This program builds on top of current the current best understanding of the basal nuclei and its integration in your patient’s conditions.
