Evidence-Based Concussion Management for the Chiropractor

Course Description

This course is going to take the chiropractor through the entire myriad of concussion management. At the forefront, the student will be exposed to the primary best practice guidelines from the biggest “players” in concussion management. From here, clinicians will fully be able to understand the definition of concussion and have a brief intro to the management principles. Utilizing the best practice guidelines from those position statements, the author will utilized Module 1 to walk the student through concussion education, prevention, recognition, evaluation, management, and return-to-play/school strategies. Module 2 will look directly at the challenges DCs face with concussion management and how to overcome those. Furthermore, we will discuss concussion management challenges as a whole that all providers face. Lastly, in Module 3, the author will discuss various scenarios in which the chiropractor may play a role in the concussion management spectrum, from sideline care to in-office management.
