This course will introduce you to the new and exciting training modality, Blood Flow Restriction Training BFRT. Blood Flow Restriction Training is the brief and intermittent occlusion of both arterial and venous blood flow using a tourniquet while exercising at low intensities. Restricting the blood flow using a medical-grade tourniquet has been shown in scientific studies to be both safe and effective. A significant benefit of BFRT is building strength and muscle size while using light weights or resistance bands. For this reason, BFRT is a great strategy for those who cannot lift heavy weights, like the elderly or those recuperating from and injury but still want the benefits of high-intensity training.
