Federal regulations require a 2-part training to become a DOT Certified Specimen Collector: A Qualification Course, followed by a Proficiency Demonstration. The qualification course consists of a 3-hour training video followed by a 32 question multiple choice test. The test requires a passing score of 90%. Upon completing the review test, students must register for their proficiency demonstration which must be completed within 30 days. Five separate mock collections covering common and uncommon scenarios are performed live via video conferencing. Once both portions of the training are finished, students will be given a certificate acknowledging them as a Certified Urine Specimen Collector and they will be able to perform both DOT and non-DOT drug tests.
