International Chiropractors Association Council on Chiropractic Pediatrics PEDIATRICS 101 This is an 8-hour seminar designed to teach DCs proper procedures and protocols of examining and adjusting the neonate. The seminar includes: ● How to take a case history 1 hour History of mother’s pregnancy and birth History and current habits of patient: sleeping, feeding, GI function, crying, trauma, vaccine issues complaints How to examine an infant 1 hour Vital signs, cranium, skin, eyes, ears, mouth, respiration Neurological exam including primitive reflexes Upper extremities, lower extremities, pelvis, spine ● Spinal anatomy review 1 hour Explaining what is normal vs abnormal Nervous system, respiratory system, CNS developmental changes ● Common pediatrics conditions 2 hours torticollis colic persistent crying musculoskeletel disorders plagiocephaly ● Adjusting demonstrations with doll and video and practice 3 hours Positioning of infant Cranial adjusting techniques and suture release Different spinal adjusting techniques: diversified, logan, soft tissue Technique modifications Red flags
