Course Description

Program Title: 2020 Parts I & II Cox® Seminar for Lumbar Certification: The Cox® Technic System for Spine Pain Relief Times: Thursday: 8am‐noon, 1pm‐7pm; Friday: 8am‐noon, 1pm‐7pm; Saturday: 8am‐noon, 1pm‐7pm; Sunday: 8am‐11am Instructors: James M Cox DC DACBR FACOH; Lee Hazen DC; George Joachim DC DACRB; Ralph Kruse DC FACO; Kurt Olding DC DACO; Dean Greenwood DC DACO Total CE Hours: 33 Description: This combined Part I and II 4‐days course allows an intense session of learning the protocols of the Cox Technic System of Spinal Pain Management for Lumbar, Thoracic, and Cervical Spine from the biomechanics to the examination and diagnosis to the treatment and research‐documented clinical and research‐laboratory documented outcomes. The Part I material is introductory to Cox® Technic flexion distraction and decompression protocols. It shares the academic basis for the research‐documented and evidence‐based protocols as well as introduces its hands‐on application. The academics focus on the non‐discogenic conditions. Lead by a proficient chiropractic hands‐on instructor who practices this technique every day, attendees will feel comfortable with the protocol and system of examination, diagnosis and treatment to produce clinical outcomes like those found in the flexion distraction literature. Then Dr. Cox and Dr. Gudavalli continue the weekend with the Part II material focused on discogenic condition material mixed with treatment demonstration and practice before the certification examination optional is made available. Part II allows Dr. Cox and Dr. Ram Gudavalli, the principal investigator of flexion distraction whose skill and research connections grow to include more critical thinking researchers with each project, to give you the latest in biomechanics and clinical research and more on the disc‐related conditions and cervical spine. Goals/Objectives: By the end of Parts I and II, the attendees will have a list of research papers about the biomechanics of flexion‐distraction adjusting, an understanding of the latest research studies being conducted with federally funded researchers, an examination that is thorough, and hands‐on skills to start using flexion‐distraction in their practices right away. The attendees will more thoroughly understand the discogenic causes of back and neck pain as well as their care based on federally funded research with evidence‐based protocols measured with a pressure transducer that each attendee will have the opportunity to use. The latitude of published support for chiropractic and Cox Technic flexion distraction in the care of neck, arm, back and leg pain is emphasized. Topics: Biomechanics of the Spine—Diagnosis of lumbar, thoracic, and cervical conditions—Chiropractic Treatment of spine conditions from disc herniation and stenosis to subluxation, sprain strain, facet syndrome, spondylolisthesis, etc.– Clinical Case reports from practitioners’ offices showing in‐office care of actual patients– chiropractic adjunctive therapies’ use ‐ discogenic conditions examination, diagnosis, treatment – hands on practice of protocols – patient management with regards to nutrition, exercise, rehab, ergonomics and understanding their condition – Cervical spine biomechanics, examination, diagnosis, treatment and clinical outcomes – patient cases from Dr. Cox’s practice are presented. The focus is lumbar spine. The certification is in lumbar spine.
