FMT Blades
By: National University of Health Sciences

Course Description

FMT Blades introduces the concepts of movement and performance enhancement via the evidence-based use of Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization IASTM techniques. IASTM tools do not require an aggressive, heavy handed approach to result in improved patient outcomes. The FMT Blades certification will review screening procedures to identify dysfunctional movement patterns and utilizes soft tissue tools to improve patient conditions such as pain, muscle dysfunction, neurological complaints and pathological scars. The anatomy, physiology and neurologic qualities of myofascial connective tissue is introduced, discussed and presented via an evidence-based approach. IASTM intervention strategies will be combined with kinesiology taping and corrective exercise techniques to deliver a comprehensive approach to patient care. Teaching methods include presentations and workshops with a hands-on lab environment. EDUCATIONAL LEARNING OUTCOMES FOR FMT BLADES: After this course the participant will: 1. Understand and integrate the myofascial sequencing model 2. Define and discuss the neuroanatomy and physiology of the fascial system 3. Identify and demonstrate movement screening techniques to identify faulty movement patterns 4. Describe the current best-evidence theory and science of IASTM 5. Practice, demonstrate and integrate assisted fascial manual therapy techniques with functional kinesiology taping to improve movement quality 6. Understand and demonstrate the ability to provide dry fascial gliding to promote improved ROM.
