ACA Sports Council Symposium: Welcome and Clinical Consideration for COVID-19

    This will be a 1 hour lecture discussing the COVID-19 pandemic with a brief welcome to the annual ACA Sports Council.  This lecture will provide the latest updates from organizations like the CDC and the WHO as well as resources for sports chiropractic practice.

    About the InstructorDr. Shea Stark graduated from Texas Chiropractic College in 2014. There she was extremely involved in multiple activities including Student Body Association, SACA and served two consecutive terms on the ACA Sports Council’s National Student Executive Board as Secretary and 2nd Vice President. After graduation, she moved to Bozeman, Montana to pursue a career as a sports chiropractor at Pro Chiropractic. Since graduation, she has achieved multiple sports chiropractic and advanced training certifications including Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP), International Certificate in Sports Chiropractic (ICSC), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Graston Technique Specialist (GTS), Dry Needling Level 1, Dynamic Tape, Rock Tape FMT 1 and 2, Select Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), FAKTR, Functional Taping for Musculoskeletal Injuries, and Safe Sport. Dr. Stark is the team physician for the Manhattan High School volleyball team in Manhattan, MT and has traveled around the country to work sporting events including the FIVB Las Vegas Open beach volleyball tournament, National High School and Collegiate Tae Kwondo Championships and the AVP Seattle Open beach volleyball tournament. She has continued her service to the American Chiropractic Association Sports Council since graduation, first doing committee work, then joining the Executive Council. She served a year as Secretary before advancing to 2nd Vice President for a year. She continued by serving as the 1st Vice President for an additional year and took over as President of the ACA Sports Council in October 2019.

    Online Chiropractic Continuing Education is the Pathway to the Future

    Online chiropractic continuing education (CE) was already a popular channel for staying current with required credits before the pandemic. With the global forcing stay-at-home orders, life online has surged dramatically. online chiropractic CE courses gained further popularity and exposure, and it just made sense.

    Chiropractic continuing education seminars, which were traditionally held at physical locations to include networking and recreational activities, are now also held online. There are certain perks to online chiropractic continuing education programs, including the safety and comfort of classes taken at home or in the office, and reduction of travel expenses.

    Maintaining Continuing Education Credit Requirements

    The Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards (FCLB) has been working to ensure that all chiropractors would have access to online chiropractic continuing education programs. PACE Recognized Providers were also quick to provide chiropractic continuing education courses that were specific to COVID-19.
