WOMEN’S HEALTH ISSUES – UNDERSTANDING DEVELOPMENT AND DIFFERENCES OF A WOMAN’S BODY

    This course is practical and informative for many health professions. It is approved for 6 CEUs for massage therapists, athletic trainers and NJ chiropractors. All others are welcome to attend non-credit.

    “Women’s Health Issues – Understanding Development and Difference of Woman’s Body” will cover health issues that affect women, specifically the importance of understanding a woman’s physical and physiological growth and the role this plays in the treatment of women.  This program will allow the clinician to understand not only the difference in a woman’s physical nature but the reason why treatment planning and overall health concerns can be different.

    Upon completion of this class, participants should be able to:

    • Explain the development of the female body from inception to birth
    • Understand the child & adolescent development of the female body, as it relates to menstruation and reproduction
    • Recognize health conditions specific to women: menstruation, childbirth, postpartum recovery
    • Understand how stress, nutrition, body image and heart health differ for women vs. men
    • Consider physiotherapy procedures for various conditions related to a woman’s body
    • Better treat women patients in light of their anatomical and developmental differences
