Pre-Treatment Rehab

Event date: 4/27/2019 - 4/28/2019 Export event

Class 2: Breaking cycles of acute pain/spasm quickly.

In this module we will review stages of injury and how to help the patient through the acute stage with the least pain and the best outcomes. The emphasis is on soft tissue response to acute injury, adjusting and rehab for correction in the saggital plane. This also sets the patient up for the greatest success in corrective care. This class will be going over the initial normal nerve, muscle and disc/ligament functions. Each patient’s body responds to stress factors differently from the external environment and the internal body environment, so we cover the abnormalities in each area of the: nerves, muscles and discs/ligaments. This information is a great foundation for knowing if a part of the body is functioning normally or abnormally. We then take these concepts and principles and apply the appropriate rehabilitation procedures to help each step of the healing process. This will increase the healing process and decrease healing time.

InstructorDr. Chris Cohen, D.C., C.C.C.N, D.A.C.N.B. Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board, Certified Pettibon Instructor
About the Instructor“I started seeing a chiropractor when I was a teenager because of the pain right between my shoulder blades. When the pain went away, I was so impressed that I decided to go to chiropractic school. Sitting in school, spending hours pouring over books caused my back pain to return - adjustments alone did get me out of pain. That’s when I was introduced to The Pettibon System™. This system of spinal rehabilitation coupled with adjustments made total sense to me and worked! It was a perfect fit for my results-driven personality." After graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2001, I practiced in my home town just south of Chicago. After almost 2 years, I was invited by Dr. Pettibon to come to Gig Harbor to run a practice for him. It was an opportunity of a lifetime. In 2003, my wife, Jen, and I trekked across the country and set up shop in Gig Harbor. All four of our children are northwest born. As a life long learner, studying the brain and its affect on how the body responds to treatment fascinates me. I have taken over 400 hours of Functional Neurology education in the past couple of years and am Pierce county's only Board Certified Functional Neurologist. What this means for you is that we can determine what is going on, where to start, the best method to treat you and set a plan to get you back to the things you love to do. We pride ourselves on keeping our practice a true place of hope and healing and invite you to come in and become part of our healthy family. Dr. Chris Cohen, D.C., C.C.C.N., D.A.C.N.B. Pettibon Institute

The Pettibon Institute, a non-profit research and educational organization founded by Dr. Burl Pettibon in 1981, is dedicated to research that supports The Pettibon System's efficacy and provides the evidence-based courses that spread the practice of proven spine and posture correction and advance The Pettibon Rehab System.

Ask Pettibon practitioners what started the transformation of their practice and most will say it was their first course on The Pettibon System. The consistent reaction is how the science, logic, and compelling proof make it impossible to go back to conventional chiropractic. Many health care providers who take a Pettibon Institute course for instruction in a specific area find it to be an invaluable tool for getting patients out of pain and on their way to structural correction.

Pettibon Institute offers online, webinar and instructor-led courses that train practitioners in Pettibon Rehab System procedures, product use and implementation, as well as advanced trainings. Take courses through The Pettibon Institute at any time. For complete course catalog and current schedule, visit our Education page. Many thought they knew Pettibon before taking a class through the Institute and discovered they had only scratched the surface with other training organizations.
