Title of Program: Dry Needling, Trigger Point Dry Needling and Intramuscular Therapy

Program Times: Friday, 8:00am-6:00pm; Saturday, 8:00am-6:00pm; Sunday, 8:00am-1:00pm

Program Description: This is an intensive, 2 weekend, 46 hour course which covers the philosophy, science, and techniques of dry needling, trigger point dry needling and intramuscular therapy. Clean needle technique and hygiene are emphasized, as well as precision of needle placement. This course is designed for manual therapy practitioners. This course fulfils the board requirement in the state of Colorado. Each of the two weekends are designed to be “stand alone” modules in this program with a combination of lecture, case studies, progress quizzes and hands on practicum’s and labs, which prepare the practitioner for Monday morning in the office. Upon completion of this program the practitioner will understand the underlying principles of dry needling, trigger point dry needling, and intramuscular therapy and be able to treat a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions (within their scope of practice) utilizing dry needling, trigger point dry needling and intramuscular therapy.

Program Goals/Objectives:
Outline and summarize the history of dry needling, trigger point dry needling and intramuscular therapy

Define conditions and individuals that are amenable to dry needling,  trigger point dry needling and intramuscular therapy

Review supporting literature for dry needling, trigger point dry needling and intramuscular therapy

Review pertinent anatomy of the regions where dry needling, trigger point dry needling and intramuscular therapy are to be applied

Understand anatomical and physical indications and contraindications to dry needling, trigger point dry needling and intramuscular therapy are to  be applied

Demonstrate knowledge and comprehension of the physiology and application of dry needling, trigger point dry needling and intramuscular therapy
 
Analyze history and examination findings as they relate to dry needling, trigger point dry needling and intramuscular therapy and implement it in  the clinical decision making process

Apply history taking, diagnostic skills and examination findings to synthesize and implement a treatment plan for many common conditions presenting to a chiropractors office with dry needling, trigger point dry needling and intramuscular therapy

Outline and demonstrate hygiene, safety, clean needle technique, indications and contraindications for dry needling, trigger point dry needling and intramuscular therapy
