This seminar will teach the doctor of chiropractic all the basics needed to feel comfortable examining young children from infants through grade-schoolers. Dr. Hewitt will demonstrate the subtleties of performing a physical examination on young children. Included will be a special section on neurological assessment of newborns, covering the evaluation of cranial nerve function, tone, deep tendon reflexes, and primitive reflexes. To aid learning, Dr. Hewitt will demonstrate techniques on a doll and show video clips of specific tests performed in an office. As always, throughout her presentation, Dr. Hewitt will pepper her instruction with clinical pearls from her 30 years of experience in pediatric practice.

About the InstructorDr. Elise Hewitt, a board-certified pediatric chiropractor and craniosacral therapist, is one of the foremost authorities in the specialty of chiropractic pediatrics. She is a member of NCMIC’s Speakers Bureau and serves on the Journal of Chiropractic Medicine’s Editorial Board. Dr. Hewitt served as President of the ACA Pediatrics Council for 10 years, currently serving as Immediate Past President. In addition to being Adjunct Faculty at UWS, she has presented at WFC and ACC-RAC, and has taught at numerous chiropractic institutions and state/national associations throughout the U.S. and internationally. Dr. Hewitt has been in private practice since 1988 in a practice limited to pediatrics.
