The 100 Hour Acupuncture Certification Course

The 100 Hour Acupuncture Certification Course is designed to introduce health care practitioners to the theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine and includes hands on practice with needles each day so that participants feel confident treating patients immediately.

Attention is paid to topics covered on the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners Acupuncture Exam. The course is offered in FOUR weekends to insure continuity of training and to save participants time and travel expenses.  

Continuing Education Credit for this course is provided by the University of Western States,
and successful completion of it fulfills requirements to take the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners Acupuncture Exam.

Curriculum for 100 Hour Acupuncture Certification Course

Week 1
- History of Chinese Medicine
- Yin Yang theory
- Five Element theory
- Basic pulse and tongue diagnosis
- Needle technique
- Zang-fu organs
- Chi and Blood
- Point Classification

Week 2
- Tracing the 12 main meridians and 9 extra vessels
- TCM theory of disease
- Meridian stretching exercises
- Point location for lung, large intestine, stomach, spleen, heart, small intestine
- Treatment of shoulder, elbow, wrist, ankle, and knee conditions

Week 3
- TCM patterns of disharmony
- Point location for pericardium, triple warmer, bladder, kidney, liver and gall bladder
- Influential and extra points
- Treatment for headaches, neck, back, shoulder and hip

Week 4
- Adjunctive therapies: auriculotherapy, electrical stimulation, gua sha, moxibustion, cupping, bleeding, infrared
- Clean needle technique
- Malpractice issues
- Case workups
- Review
- Exam

InstructorDr. Kim Graf, DC, Dipl. Ac.
About the InstructorKim Graf, DC, Dipl. Ac. has been in private practice since 1993, first in Colorado and then in Utah. Since 1995, she has taught various college courses in Colorado and Utah and on Semester at Sea through the University of Virginia. Dr. Graf has taught acupuncture certification courses and continuing education seminars since 2006. She is a member and past board representative of the Utah Chiropractic Physicians Association and has also served as a National Board of Chiropractic Examiners Acupuncture Committee member. A graduate of Western States Chiropractic College, Dr. Graf holds dual licensure as both a chiropractor and acupuncturist (and NCCAOM Diplomate) in Utah where she works, lives and plays outdoors with her family.
