Perspectives on Pain and Vitamin D in practice 2 hrs

  • Board Restrictions note: Co-sponsored courses may not be eligible for CE in Tennessee; Credit calculations may vary for New Mexico approval
  • Whether we wish it were our primary practice focus or not…all chiropractors treat patients who are experiencing pain in one form or another. This course will explore the topic of pain, its functions, modulation, ways to classify the pain response, the psychosocial connections to pain and pain management, relevant anatomy and physiology and means of pain control. Recent research has indicated that as many as 50% of the American population is deficient in vitamin D. Changing lifestyles, including an increased emphasis on protection from the sun, less time spent outdoors, and dietary changes have resulted in what some are calling a subtle health epidemic. Research also indicates that vitamin D plays a more integral role in human physiology than was previously thought- some 1200 receptors for this hormone have been found in myriad tissues throughout the systems of the body. Researchers are redefining the role this vital compound plays in the maintenance of good health, and many of these findings are remarkably germane to the practice of chiropractic…so much so that considering and evaluating for this potential cause of many of the symptoms encountered in the chiropractic setting may often result in better patient health and in better long term outcomes. This course will examine the role vitamin D plays in the maintenance of physical well-being. The participant will gain an in depth knowledge of vitamin D sourcing, metabolism & evaluation as well as the physical manifestations associated with insufficiency as they relate to the practice of chiropractic by examining numerous case studies.
